Transportation Services Manager
Job purpose
The Transportation Services Manager is responsible for Transportation Services, DOT filing, Driver Operations and serves as the liaison between field operations and office support resources.
Duties and responsibilities
- File IFTA quarterly tax reports for all Apportioned vehicles.
- Pay IRP apportioned license plate fees yearly.
Driver Operations
- Schedule/Dispatch drivers as needed for keeping jobs equipped as needed & make changes to schedule as needed
- Enter time for drivers in HCSS Heavy Job
- Order permits as needed for Oversize/Over dimension equipment moves locally or as needed in other States (MO, IL, KS, ARK, CO, etc)
- Order new or delete apportioned license plates when needed.
- File UCR (Unified Carrier Registration Plan) yearly
- File Biennial Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) MCS 150 forms
- Monitor/maintain GPS equipment for keeping track of mileage driven each month
- Enter new driver information/pin# when needed (last 4 of SSN - making sure there are not duplicates)
- Order Equipment Transfers books as needed for drivers.
Fuel
- Enter monthly fuel pulled from our yard tank using Fuelmaster software and entering in Spectrum (maybe an accounting function)
- Order new Fuel cards from Davison Fuels when new vehicles are purchased.
- Maintain the Davison portal, i.e. fuel cards, driver pins, declined transactions, etc.
- Approve Davison invoices twice a month.
- Order, schedule and coordinate resources needed for equipment and material moves.
- Assist tracking of equipment based on moves made in accordance with job needs.
- Check and approve job overhead purchases, (i.e. dumpsters, portable toilets, etc.).
- Manage the company fuel card accounts including issuing fuel cards, making changes, distributing usage reports and processing invoices.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree. Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or related discipline. Prefer one (1) year of heavy construction experience. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Ability to work independently and resolve practical problems, keeping all appropriate parties aware of issues or risks.
- Some management training.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills including use of the Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, HeavyJob and Dispatcher.
- Familiarity with union contracts and DOT requirements.
- Strong organizational skills.
Other Functions
- Act as receiving department for UPS, FedEx, freight, and other deliveries
- Sign for, alert the necessary parties, and distribute packages as needed.
Working conditions
Primarily an indoor office environment.
