Job purpose
The Safety Coordinator is a Project level position administering the EH&S program ensuring safety compliance by the project team and all subcontractors working at the site.
Duties and responsibilities
- Support all safety efforts on the project and promotes the MW safety culture
- Consults daily with the MW Superintendent regarding the coordination of safety activities
- Ensure contractor compliance to MW safety plan including but not limited to, safety submittals, training and equipment inspection and other documentation
- Inspect the job site regularly and record observations into HCSS.
- Provide safety guidance to project teams on MW, client and OSHA requirements
- Investigate all incidents and complete all paperwork required
- Maintain safety documentation and records on the project. These records include JSAs, Tool Box Talks, Chemical SDS, Safety Inspections, Safety permits and any other records that may be generated on the project involving safety
- Participates in MW Safety Committees
- Promotes MW safety initiatives
- Conducts New Employee Orientations
- Conducts pre-employment and post-accident drug and alcohol testing
Experience / Education
- BS in Safety Management or related degree
- 0-2 years' experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of construction safety principles, techniques and methods
- Practical knowledge of OSHA laws, regulations and policies
- Capable of identifying known potential exposures and recommending corrective action
- Computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Management, leadership and interpersonal skills
Other Functions
This position is assigned to the Corporate Office or Project Office
- Some Travel is required in this position.
- Respond to emergency calls after normal hours.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to pass background check for access to airports, railroads, and military bases.
Working conditions
Work is performed indoors and/or outdoors. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to travel and be exposed to inclement weather including cold and heat. Ability to climb a ladder and crawl in small spaces (if required) and/or (bridges).

- The position requires that you will walk the construction site, climb ladders, climb stairs and walk on uneven ground.
- Position will require employee to spend a large portion of their time on the project sites.
